Formerly known as "Thicke" this musical artist has evolved
artistically, professionally and notably into "Robin Thicke".
Some of you may be wondering, who is Robin Thicke? I asked
the same question when I heard one of the tracks from his new
album playing on someone's My Space page.
After doing my
research I discovered his first album, "A Beautiful World" which
was from a time when he was just going by "Thicke". I
remembered only one track "When I get you alone" that featuring
a Beethoven sample. His vocals were hot and the song was
interesting at the time but only made a light splash.
After that Thicke fell off the radar. Fortunately was
pardoned from the prison of obscurity that many one CD artist
experience at the hand of studio execs; when he was signed to a
new label, joining Pharell Williams at Star Trak Records.
Despite being the son
of television star, Alan Thicke who is widely known for playing
the father on the 1980's television show "Growing Pains", Robin
has always stood on his own. Although he was never
encouraged to become a star he developed his own initiative
toward building a musical career writing and producing for
artist such as Mary J. Bilge and Michael Jackson. Having
secured his first record deal at an early age it would be 7
years before his first album.
His first album "A
Beautiful World" debuted in 2002. Robin admits that at the
time he was insecure about the prospect of success, hiding
behind long hair and the name "Thicke". He has since moved
forward in his journey and evolution most recently teaming up
with Pharell Williams to create his latest CD "The Evolution of
Robin Thicke".
His evolution is evident, his voice crystal clear, his story in
plain sight. Full of urges, desires and demons like
everyone else, Thicke sings his life, his feelings, his soul...
The Evolution of Robin Thicke is full of surprises and contains
something for everyone. It is eclectic in its arrangements
and variation of musical styles. There are plenty of
romantic ballads and a few grooves to keep your head bobbing and
feet moving in addition to touches of Latin, Rock, Hip-Hop, and
Jazz. Robin's vocals are evolved, confident and addictive.
If you're new to Robin Thicke I might forward through the first
three tracks, then listen to them the next time you'll
appreciate them more that way! Track number 4 "Lost with
out you" is a smooth sexy love song that creates the mood for
provocative fun. This IS a date CD. I
love tracks 8, 9, 11, 14, 15... Check it out for yourself!
This album also features Faith Evans and Lil Wayne.
